The National Electrical Manufacturers Association conducted their July Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for the current North American conditions gave up some of the sizable gain it reported a month ago. The index dipped to 45.7 from 50 in June, implying that business conditions facing the industry worsened slightly.
The future conditions index for North America continued to point toward improvement in the months ahead. The index climbed slightly to 60.9 in July from an already solid reading of 60.4 in June. July marked the third month the index topped the “break-even” threshold of 50. The future conditions index measures respondents' expectations more than 80 percent of the electroindustry.
The Electroindustry Business Confidence Index gauges the business confidence of the electroindustry in Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America, and is based on the results of a monthly survey of senior managers at NEMA member companies. Those companies represent more than 80 percent of the electroindustry.
