Agile Systems, announced it has been given the first in a series of five patent pending application for control of electric motor products by the US Patent & trade Office (USPTO). This first patent includes the removal of the noise induced by the motor allowing a clean back EMF signal. This results in a 100% start up reliability and improved low speed control.

Chris Butlin, Agile Systems VP of Engineering noted, this new breakthrough technology will allow for more robust running of the motor, increasing motor speed and efficiency. Permanent magnet motors that induce a lot of noise from saliency can greatly benefit from this technology by being able to acquire a clear back EMF signal where formally this saliency would contaminate the back EMF signal.”

This technique will improve Agile’s sensorless technology and allow applications which were not practical with traditional sensorless control.
